Technology Approval Group (TAG)
Isle Technology Approval Groups (TAGs) are confidential, collaborative innovation forums for technology users. South Africa TAG participation provides unparalleled
access to local and global technologies.
South Africa TAG has a unique track record of bringing local and global technologies to users.
The TAG process involves a unique stringent screening of technologies through a robust due diligence process.
Isle’s global network offers TAG participants access to a high quality portfolio of new technologies and ensures that they remain at the forefront of technical
development. Three participation choices are available: Premium TAG, Standard TAG and TAG Lite.
Technology Portal (Lite, Standard & Premium)
Isle hosts and continuously updates a web-based, searchable TAG Technology Portal containing >1000 novel technologies which have been put through due
diligence and judged to be technically credible and commercially sound.
All TAG member organisations can have unlimited logins for all staff to have the ability to log in independently.
TAG Meetings (Lite, Standard & Premium)
SA TAG Meetings take place twice a year. For each meeting, Isle undertakes due diligence on tens of technologies to ensure scientific robustness, appropriateness
and reliable local availability and support. We then work closely with TAG participants to select five high-potential technologies to present at each meeting.
Five companies are selected to present technical and cost information during a one-day forum. Each presentation is followed by Q&A, and then Isle ushers the
technology company out of the room to facilitate a confidential, collaborative review. Opportunities for trials and other projects emerge during the meetings.
The technologies are usually market-ready or near-ready, at Technology Readiness Level 7 - 9 (this differs from the WADER programme, which focuses on level 4 - 6.
Isle has an MoU with the Water Research Commission to develop WADER and SASTEP technologies further).
Ask-An-Expert Service (Standard & Premium)
Isle has an international team of scientists and engineers whose role is to undertake technical due diligence assessments of new and emerging technologies. You
may be frequently contacted by technology providers, offering demonstrations and trying to sell you their latest technologies. Once you have joined TAG, you can
refer them to us for due diligence assessment and we send you a confidential professional assessment.
Innovation Workshop (Premium only)
This is a private, annual workshop conducted in house to better understand your technology needs and the opportunities for innovation. We can focus on any
water/ energy topic of your choice. It may be a standalone workshop, or part of your strategic planning or bosberaad. The workshop objectives can include, for
example, to learn about emerging technologies that address current and strategic needs, to expand opportunities and identify risks, or to understand the challenges
in adopting new technologies and how these challenges can be overcome.

Online Tools
Isle hosts and continuously updates web-based portals containing >1200 novel technologies which have been reviewed.
Think of them as Property24 or Autotrader, but for pre-assessed technologies.
The TAG Technology Portal contains hundreds of technologies across multiple sectors and product categories, a collection built up carefully over more than ten
years, and continuously updated. It is the only international online database of pre-assessed water and wastewater technologies in existence.
