Access to RDP Water | A basic (or RDP) household water supply is defined as households with access to Piped Water within 200m to
either 25 litres per person per day, or 6000 litres per household per month, at a Minimum flow rate of not less than 10 litres per minute;
with no interrupion excceding 48 hours (at any one time) and a cumulative interruption time per year of less than 15 days, at a potable standard (SANS241).

Access to Reliable Service | Access to a minimum of RDP Water Service where Interruptions are less than 48 hours (at any one time) and a cumulative interruption time of less than 15 days per year - data source : Water Services Knowledge System [WSKS] |
Drinking Water Quality | Drinking water must comply with potable water quality standards as specified in SANS 241 - data source : Integrated Regulatory Information System [IRIS] |
BlueDrop Score | Compliance to drinking water standards must address all elements in the water supply system including sampling
and testing of water at the treatment works intake and outflow, in distribution pipelines and reservoirs and at the point of use. The DWS has adopted an incentive based risk management approach, the Blue Drop system, whereby all variables are assessed to rate the risk of failure of each works. Works that achieve a certain rating are awarded the prestigious Blue Drop status - source IRIS |
Access to RDP Sanitation | Houselds with access to Flush toilets,Chemical toilets or Pit toilet with ventilation (VIP) - data source : Water Services Knowledge System [WSKS] |
Effluent Quality | Overall Effluent Compliance based on average of Microbiological,Chemical,Physical and Operational Compliance- data source : Integrated Regulatory Information System [IRIS] |
GreenDrop Score | The Green Drop process upholds scientific principles and is founded in its ability to measure and report performance that reflects the
functionality and status of the wastewater systems- data source : Integrated Regulatory Information System [IRIS] |
Vulnerability Index | A Vulnerability Index between 0 and 1 is calculated per WSA based on a weighted score over the 18 business legs. A score closer to 0 is better. - data source : Municipal Strategic Self-Assessment System [MuSSA] |
Vulnerability Index Trend | Did the vulnerabilty index increase or decrease between the previous and current year? - data source : Municipal Strategic Self-Assessment System [MuSSA] |
Financial Distress | An indicator calculated and supplied by Treasury indicating whether a WSA/municipality experiences finicalcial difficulties over time- data source : Treasury |
WSDP Status | Gives an indication whether a WSA has an approved and adopted Water Services Development Plan - data source : Water Services Development System [WSDP] |
Non Revenue Water | Expressed as a percentage of total water losses in the WSA. - data source : No Drop System [WSKS] |
Potable Compliance | Drinking water must comply with potable water quality standards as specified in SANS 241 - data source : Integrated Regulatory Information System [IRIS] |
Effluent Compliance | Overall Effluent Compliance based on average of Microbiological,Chemical,Physical and Operational Compliance - data source : Integrated Regulatory Information System [IRIS] |
